Who we are

Mop Idol Ltd (company number 17205785), registered office 29 Egbert Street, Manchester M40 5ER.

We use in-app messaging where available, and don't offer phone support unless separately agreed.

We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZC185400. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

How our service works

Mop Idol is a managed cleaning service, not a cleaner-introduction agency. We allocate our own cleaners — employees, workers, or approved contractors and specialist partners where needed — set the standards, run the app, collect payment, issue reports and manage the service.

You contract with Mop Idol, not with an individual cleaner. Anyone we use must meet our onboarding, training, insurance and service standards.

Our cleaners

Our cleaners are expected to be DBS checked and trained. Training covers COSHH, infection prevention, manual handling and our own induction — cleaning standards, safe chemical and equipment use, photo reporting, keys and security, lone working, and what to do if they find damage, unsafe conditions or anything that makes a clean unsafe to complete.

Which terms apply

Shared policies also apply to every booking: our Cancellation & Refund Policy, Complaints Policy, Insurance & Cover, Privacy Notice and Cookies Policy.

Liability

Nothing in our terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited in law — and nothing removes the statutory rights you have as a consumer.

For business customers (including short-stay hosts), we're not liable for loss of profit, revenue or bookings, guest compensation or refunds, loss of goodwill or reputation, platform review, rating or status impact, or any indirect or consequential loss. Where our liability can be limited, we cap it at a reasonable amount linked to the affected clean.

Things outside our control

Sometimes something outside our reasonable control gets in the way of a clean — severe weather, transport failure, a power or network outage, unexpected staff illness or emergency where no suitable replacement can reasonably be found, or a government restriction. If that happens we'll let you know as soon as we can and either reschedule or refund the affected clean. We won't be liable for a delay or failure caused by events like these.

Ending your agreement

You can stop using Mop Idol whenever you like; cancelling a specific clean follows our Cancellation & Refund Policy. We may suspend or end your access where there's fraud, abuse, unsafe conditions, non-payment, or a serious or repeated breach of these terms. Ending things doesn't affect any charges or rights already built up.

Working directly with a cleaner

You must not bypass Mop Idol by directly engaging, employing, paying, contracting with or soliciting a cleaner, worker or contractor introduced to you through us. This applies while you use Mop Idol and for 12 months after that cleaner last attended your property. If you breach this, we may permanently suspend you, cancel pending bookings, refuse future bookings and recover reasonable losses and costs where lawful.

If our business changes hands

We may assign, transfer or novate our rights and obligations under these terms to another company if we restructure, sell all or part of the business, transfer assets, merge, or move the service to a group company. If you're a consumer this won't reduce your legal rights. You may not transfer your agreement with us without our consent.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms and policies from time to time. Minor, legal, safety, operational or clarifying changes may take effect when published. If we make a material change that reduces your rights, increases charges, cuts the service, or changes cancellation or refund rights, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice by email or in the app. Material changes won't apply to a clean you've already booked or paid for unless you agree. If you don't accept a material change, you can stop using Mop Idol before it takes effect.
